South Bayfront Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge & Horton Landing Park

The South Bayfront Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge helped make Emeryville, Calif., more walkable by bridging the gap between the city’s Horton Landing Park project and the Emeryville Greenway with its 230-ft single-span over railway tracks.  

Featuring a combination S-curved deck and asymmetrical single tied-arch design, full assembly took place at the temporary staging area, where deck and arch components were welded and bolted together, while temporary towers ensured geometries conformed to the design, until the completed bridge was lifted into place over the tracks under restricted timelines.
